Phoenix Sylvestris, also known as date palm, indian date, sugar date palm or wild date palm, is a species of flowering plant in the palm family.

Relatively fast growing, once established, this species will grow at a rate of about 1.5 feet per year, ultimately reaching a height of 50 feet.

They are cold hardy, drought tolerant and moderately salt tolerant. They grow well in almost any well drained soil, including sand.

Sylvesters grow best in direct sunlight with room to grow.
